When to stop checking on your own
Stop and contact the manufacturer or qualified appliance service when both compartments stay warm, the measured temperature does not improve, the door will not seal, frost returns quickly, or you would need to remove a cover or touch wiring, the coil, a capacitor or sealed refrigeration tubing.
Also stop if a breaker trips repeatedly, you smell burning, see damaged wiring or find unusual heat near the plug or outlet. Have the model number, set temperatures, actual temperatures, operating sounds and the time the problem began ready for support.
